October 15We finished and turned in the Macroinvertebrate lab, reviewed standards for this unit, talked about what to study for the test, and played jeopardy.
TEST ON WEDNESDAY!! Review class material. (See suggestions to the right on what and how to study for the test) October 11We reviewed our data and findings from the water quality field trip. FInished up nutrient notes and macro notes.
FOR NEXT CLASS: -Complete the sample questions (to give you an idea of questions that might be on test) -Review material for the first test which is next Wednesday, Oct 17th. (see to the right for how to best study) October 5We practiced our water quality tests using "synthetic" water samples to prepare for our field trip on Tuesday.
FOR NEXT CLASS: -FIELD TRIP NEXT CLASS!! BE HERE BY 7:45AM ON TUESDAY TO LEAVE FOR BUSES -Wear rubber boots or get here early to borrow a pair -Wear clothes that can get wet, you might want to bring a change of clothes to leave in your locker -$5 to Bookkeeper Mrs. Deluca -Pre-Arranged absence form to me September 27I assigned and you had time to work on your DDT Case Study. I assigned groups for the Water Quality tests and discussed upcoming events.
FOR NEXT CLASS: -Read through and take notes on your water quality test -Work on Case Study- will be due Wednesday, October 3rd. -Get your Pre-arranged absence form signed and bring it to me -Pay Donna 5$ for the water quality field trip September 25We peer edited our Ecosystem Comparison Lab write ups and started nutrient cycling notes. I collected your practice pages and reading guides to be graded.
FOR NEXT CLASS: Final draft of your Ecosystem Lab is due. We will turn it in on google docs together at the beginning of class. Have the lab completed and ready to be turned in, it does not need to be printed. September 21Collected the second set of data for our ecosystem comparison lab, in a lawn ecosystem.
FOR NEXT CLASS: Use the document we downloaded onto google docs to complete your write up for the ecosystem comparison lab. On Tuesday we will peer edit in class (using computers and google docs) to make sure we are all on the same page for what is expected on our first big assignment. September 19We walked to Woodrose Natural Area and conducted the first part of our Ecosystem Comparison Lab. You will collect the second set of data on Friday, and on Monday come in with a completed rough draft of you lab to be peer edited in class.
FOR NEXT CLASS: -****Think of a question that you want to investigate based on the data we are collecting at the two sites. Question should look at how biotic and abiotic factors effect an ecosystem.**** -Work on Practice Pages September 17We completed the random sampling lab and practiced working with the Vernier Probeware. I passed out your ecosystem comparison lab.
FOR NEXT CLASS: -Finish Reading Guides -LOOK OVER YOUR LAB TO BE READY NEXT CLASS! September 13We finished up the ecosystem structure and function notes.
BE READY TO GO OUTSIDE NEXT WEEK! For Next Class: -Reading Guide #2 -Work on practice pages (All but the last few have been covered in class and readings thus far) September 11We finished out Part 1 of the note packet/powerpoint. Also completed the dichotomous key lab.

-Bring in signed Syllabus, Safety Contract, and Field Responsibility Contract. -Don't worry about the google docs folder, ran out of time to talk about it. Other Notes: I would suggest looking ahead and getting started on some of the reading this weekend since there is no other homework. For those of you who left early for the assembly get the notes from a peer in the class or you can come in look at my key. We made it through the powerpoint up to the first "Brain Break" |
