4/9-4/10We reviewed genetic equilibrium, took notes on speciation and isolation, completed the Process of Speciation activity (14 above, page 20-21 in general packet). We then had time to work on our study guides.
HOMEWORK: Complete Study Guides (Standards 1-4) and study for your tests. 4/5-4/8GENERAL: We took notes on Genetic Equilibrium (pg. 22-23) and did the Guppy Lab (Flashy Fish Simulation on Right).
HOMEWORK: 1. Scientist and Evidence for Evolution Concept Maps 2. 11.2 in textbook and page 30 in packet ADVANCED: We took notes on Genetic Equilibrium (p 11-12) and did the Guppy Lab (Flashy Fish Simulation to the right.) We then worked on the Scientists and Evidence for Evolution concept maps (7 and 8 above) HOMEWORK: 1. Finish Guppy Lab 2. Scientist and Evidence concept maps (7 and 8 above) 3. Make Flashcards of vocab 4.Yellow packet should be done 4/3-4/4GENERAL: Today we took notes on Evidence for Evolution by walking around and looking at cards with information (see powerpoint below). We also reviewed the Iguana Graphing homework and reviewed vocabulary.
HOMEWORK: REad textbook section 10.4 and complete pages 28-29 in your packet ADVANCED: Today we reviewed evidence for evolution notes from homework. We did the Amino Acid Lab (see above). And wrote down vocabulary to review. HOMEWORK: Read sections 11.2 and 11.4 in textbook and complete pages 19-21 in your packet 4/1-4/2GENERAL: Today we did a lab looking at the adaptation of the human thumb. We then watched the portion of the Galapagos video on finches and completed pages 12-13 in our packets and talked about types of selection.
HOMEWORK: Complete the Iguana Graphing activity handed out in class, titled "Genetic Variation in a Population" ADVANCED: Today we watched a video on finches in the Galapagos, we then completed pages 3-4 and took notes on types of selection. We then did a bird beak buffet activity. HOMEWORK: 1. Read your textbook section 10.4 and do pages 17-18 2. Use the powerpoint below to fill in as much of pages 8-10 as you can. It is not meant to go in order, answers you can't get you will get during next class. 3/21-3/22Today we watched a video on Marine Lizards in the Galapagos. We then did a lab looking at adaptations of animals (12 above) and watched more videos about the Galapagos.
HAVE A GREAT SPRING BREAK!! It's a great time to study for Genetic test make ups and bring yourself up to passing when you get back!! 3/19-3/20GENERAL:
Today we finished notes on genetic variation. We did a Carousel walk of important scientists in Evolution Biology. HOMEWORK: 1. Read textbook section 11.1 and complete page 27 ADVANCED: Today we worked on the EvoDots Lab, and then did a Carousel walk of important scientists in Evolution Biology. HOMEWORK: 1. Finish and turn in EvoDots and Peppermoth Labs 3/13- 3/18GENERAL:
Today we finished notes on the nature of science. We watched Voyage to the Galapagos and completed the Peppermoth Natural Selection Lab. And the notes on Genetic Variation (see video below, page 14 in your notes.) HOMEWORK: 1. Read textbook section 11.1 and complete page 27 in your notes 2. Finish Lab/Notes depending on what you got done in class ADVANCED: Today we finished notes on nature of science. Watched the voyage to Galapagos intro. Did the Peppermoth Natural Selection Lab and the Peppermoth EvoDots Lab. HOMEWORK: 1. Finish Pepper Moth Lab 2. Read Textbook section 11.1 and complete page 16 in your packet 3/11-3/12Today we finished our timeline posters. We did the "checks lab". And took notes on the nature of science.
HOMEWORK: General: Read section 10.2 and 10.3 in your textbook and complete pages 25&26 in your packet Advanced: 1. Watch the genetic variation notes (below) and complete page 5 2. Read section 10.2 and 10.3 in your textbook and complete pages 14&15 3/7-3/8Today we introduced the evolution unit by looking at the geological time scale. We made a time scale and put important events on it.
HOMEWORK: Read sections 12.1 and 12.2 in your textbook and complete the corresponding page in packet (general: page 8, advanced, page 13) |
